

Tom Grieveson
Trustee
Tom has been a trustee at KOAS since 2016 and has worked mainly to support its educational outreach programme. He has spent over 40 years in education. He has extensive experience of school and system improvement and inspection. As a senior HMI (Her Majesty’s Inspector) Tom had direct accountability for managing and deploying the regional team of HMI and additional inspectors to deliver inspections in the North East, Yorkshire and Humberside region. He led many high-profile inspections in several parts of England and gained significant expertise working with maintained schools and academies that had been placed in Ofsted categories of concern. Prior to joining HMI Tom spent 12 years as a Headteacher and held senior positions in local authority school improvement teams, including as Head of Service. He works on a range of initiatives as an educational consultant, recently completing a major research project into the performance of disadvantaged students and until recently was part of the Association of Education Advisers Development Team. Tom is also Member at the Legacy Learning Trust (schools) in Middlesbrough.
