Universe Full of Stars
About this event
Begin your journey into astronomy with the expert team from Kielder Observatory as we explore the foundations of our understanding of the universe.
From ancient stargazers mapping the first constellations to today’s discoveries about the structure of the cosmos, this event reveals how human curiosity has shaped our knowledge of the night sky. Learn about the origins of astronomy, how we chart the heavens, and what it means to live in a universe full of stars.
Whatever the weather, our passionate astronomers will guide you with engaging talks, fascinating demonstrations, and the chance to ask your questions. If the skies are clear, we’ll step outside to experience Northumberland’s internationally recognised Dark Sky Park, where constellations and the Milky Way shine in breathtaking clarity on the darkest nights, and when the moon is it’s fullest, lights up the sky with incredible views through our telescopes.
Every event supports our charitable mission
Kielder Observatory is a registered charity dedicated to making astronomy accessible to all. By joining us, you’re not only enjoying an unforgettable evening — you’re helping us inspire the next generation of stargazers and scientists.
On site we have a huge range of telescopes guided by Kielder's expert night sky navigators for when the skies are at their best. And for when they're hiding, our team will welcome you into our a planetarium for an immersive dark skies experience undercover.
