Space Kids - Telescopes
About this event
Calling all young explorers! Join the team from Kielder Observatory for a hands-on afternoon of astronomy, specially designed for children and families.
In this workshop, children will get the chance to build their very own mini-telescope to take home — the perfect first step on a journey into stargazing. Our astronomers will guide them through how telescopes work, and why they’ve been such important tools for discovering the universe.
The adventure continues with an out of this world experience in our indoor planetarium, where we’ll travel through the stars, planets, and galaxies — no matter what the weather outside. And if the skies are clear, we’ll step outdoors to look through real telescopes at safe views of the Sun, the Moon, bright stars, or even planets, depending on the season.
