Important Travel Information: C198 Tarset Tyne Bridge Closure (April–June 2026)

Guests attending events between April and June and travelling to the local Kielder area will be affected by a local bridge closure.

Kielder Observatory remains fully open as normal, and alternative routes will be available, guests are advised to allow for extra travel time.

Kielder Observatory would like to make guests aware of planned road works affecting access via the C198 Tarset Tyne Bridge between 20 April and 19 June 2026.

These works are being carried out by Northumberland County Council and involve essential waterproofing, kerb, footpath, and road renewal improvements. The Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) allows for the closure to extend until 20 August 2026, if required.
