My interest in the Cosmos began when I was very young but really took off around 20 years ago when I was fortunate enough to be able to look up at the night sky in the US state of Arizona. I could not believe how many stars I could see compared to where I lived in the UK! It then suddenly struck me how little I knew about it, and I began a mission to learn more. Of course, for every question answered, there were 10 new questions! It wasn’t long before I realised that Astronomy would play a major part in my life from that point on. I spent the next few years looking through binoculars and learning how to use stars in the constellations as a “map” to help me find other objects. In 2008, I purchased my first telescope and for the first time, was able to directly observe the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter. I was hooked.
