Science Communication and Sustainability

Hi! I’m Naz, I’m 24 years old and I have a degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Central Lancashire. I was born in Iran and grew up in Manchester. I have travelled extensively and explored the night sky in a few different locations.
I love being amongst nature and have a keen interest in reducing our impact on the planet. I have been interested in astronomy from the age of 7, when I received my first telescope. Looking up at the sky at the stars, or even atmospheric phenomenon that occur, has always fascinated me.
Being a scientist, the theory behind what I’m looking at blows my mind but equally makes me feel small and insignificant. Astronomy reminds me to enjoy the time we have on this planet, as we are a mere blip in the grand scheme of things.
- Favourite celestial object: The Moon – our celestial companion. I never tire of looking at the moon, whether it be through a telescope or just by eye. Each time I look at it, it shows me something new and my appreciation for the fact that humans have walked on it grows.
- Favourite Films: Arrival, Contact, About Time, Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy.
- Favourite Musician: Hans Zimmer.
