Operations & Marketing Director
- Kielder Observatory is seeking an experienced Operations & Marketing Director to support the organisation's ambitions for growth
Kielder Observatory has launched a new strategic vision, Kielder Constellations, which outlines our mission to create opportunities for people of all backgrounds and abilities to experience moments fo inspiration, revelation, wonder and hope through observing the cosmos. Reaching beyond the Kielder location, we want to connect with and inspire as many people as possible. To help us achieve this, we are now recruiting for a dedicated operations and marketing role.
The post's responsibilities include line management of a highly experienced team, ensuring the organisation's operational efficiency, effectiveness and compliance, further developing our marketing and communications strategy, and suporting the CEO, team and Board to rework the business plan in light of our new strategic vision.
Experience in development and fundraising is essential, as is leadership; the post deputises for the CEO. Knowledge of astronomy is not essential; more important is a track record of achieving positive impact and a desire to help an amazing team inspire people, wherever they are, with the wonders of the night sky.
Initially part-time, there is potential for increase to 0.75 FTE or full time as we grow the organisation but this is not guaranteed, nor expected: we welcome applications from those interested in job-share and flexible working.
The role is mainly based at the office at Prestwick Park, Newcastle but regular attendance will be needed at the Observatory site and some home-working is encouraged to maintain social distancing in our office premises.
Salary £40,000 pro rata 0.5 FTE
